How to ACTUALLY Crush Your New Year’s Business Resolutions
Whether you like it or not, the year is finally over. And what can you say you did with your year?
Yeah, it’s a bit of tough love – but it’s the kick in the butt you need. Now, you don’t have to wait until the start of a new year to really get after it, but since this time is all about resolutions anyway, you might as well hop on board.
Now, we all know what New Year’s resolutions are really for – they’re for feeling good about setting goals for five seconds and then immediately forgetting about them.
But who’s to say we can’t change that?!
So if you’re creating some New Year’s resolutions for 2022 and you want to achieve them this time, listen up.
Create goals you can measure.
Ex. I’m going to read one chapter of a book 5 days a week. With measurable goals, it’s easy to tell if you met them or not. With more qualitative goals, we’re inclined to tell ourselves we’re on the right track when, let’s be honest, we’re not.
Do it with a partner or friend.
Have you ever gone to the gym with a friend and always said ‘yes’ when they asked if you wanted to do one more exercise? And would you have called it quits if you were by yourself? Probably, right?
Setting goals with a friend, partner, or coworker helps keep both of you accountable.
Keep it at the top of your mind.
Make an effort to journal every day, or at least write it down on a note as a daily reminder. If you’re always thinking about it, chances are you won’t forget and slide down the slippery slope.
Make one very important change.
Creating too many big goals is a recipe for failure. Ever heard the phrase don’t bite off more than you can chew? Well…
Choose just ONE very important goal and maybe a couple of smaller, more easily achievable ones. Remember your past New Year’s resolutions and think realistically: is this achievable for me?
Happy New Year and Happy Resoluting!
